Songbird and Diavolina

Here's my finished watercolor rendition of page 12 in the Canberra Centre's new fashion magazine Culture. I'm completely in love with both the shoes (by Diavolina) and the 'Songbird' dress (by Review).

I keep promising to stop taking photos with my phone, but all of my recent paintings have been on A3 paper, and my scanner is too small, so you'll have to forgive the poor quality images.

If you like this painting, you can get your very own print over at the Illustrateur Etsy store.

This is the page that inspired my painting. It is taken outside the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra (one of my favorite places).

  3. Very clever. I just got a book out of the library called a life drawing by Shirley Hughes> she is the most stunning illustrator.

  9. Fabulous painting (and inspiration)! I so agree with you about art books sizes and scanners. I'm thinking of getting the one printer I've found with a large flatbed (but still haven't - more expensive than most others).

Your fashion pieces are so real!

  21. Wow, great job! I find it difficult to paint such accurate likenesses, so I always just use photos for 'inspiration' but you've really nailed this one. I especially love the work around the feet!
