Wedding outfit

In a couple of weeks one of my best friends is getting married at the National Gallery of Australia. Such a special occasion requires a special new outfit, so I'm attempting to make this pink, tea-length, tutu skirt to wear with a sequinned top I bought in New York back in October. But have I mentioned that I don't really know how to sew?

I painted this in my Sketchbook Project book, as my very last entry!

  8. This is really fun! When I was a little girl, I drew girls all the time and had dreams of becoming a fashion illustrator someday. I gave up on the idea of fashion design once I realized it involved sewing (I hate sewing). Good luck with your dress and please do show us the finished result!!

  10. This is a beautiful and uplifting outfit. In the States, we tend to wear black to weddings. I like this much better. You will catch on to the sewing, it's not too difficult, just follow the directions. Would have loved to be close enough to show you. Blessings, Janet PPF

  13. Iron on fabric bond and staples can work miracles. Love the sketch, and you really have to pose in front of the same sculpture in the finished dress.

  17. I did the Sketchbook Project last year too! Love the idea of the fashion illustration. Just doing one was hard, more power to you to do 3! Here's my link to the youtube video I did so I could keep a virtual copy of it.

  20. I love your sketch and I'm betting the real one will look really good when it's done! I think it'd e cool if you duplicated that scene in real life too.
I'm hoping to do my own sketchbook project next year- I did one two years ago and really had fun with it.
